On 24 Feb 2010, Dr. Huynh Cong Minh paid a visit to and gave best wishes on the new year to the management and students of Vietnamese American Training Center (VATC) at the head office at 21 Le Quy Don St, Ward 6, Dist 3, Ho Chi Minh city. This 9 storey building is equipped with high technical equipments to provide the best learning environment for English students.
Dr. Huynh Cong Minh gave best wishes on the new year to VATC management and students in a friendly manner. Through the visit, Dr. Huynh Cong Minh appreciated VATC for its long term of operation and all its achievements after 10 years of development. VATC has been awarded many certificates of merits for its excellent performance in education awarded by Government, Ministry of Foreign Affair, Ministry of Labours, Invalids and Social Affairs and Ho Chi Minh City Education and Training Department. VATC also obtained the award of “Famous brand in Vietname voted by consumer’s awareness” organized by Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the latest is the Dragon Prize award in 2009. On the occasion of Lunar New Year (Tet), Dr. Huynh Cong Minh expected that, VATC shall continue to develop current strengths and achieves the new successes for VATC and Vietnam education in general. To respond to the friendly congratulation of Dr. Huynh Cong Minh, VATC management, staffs and students are strongly committed to follow the guideline “the teaching quality is the first priority”.
After the friendly discuss, Dr. Huynh Cong Minh also shared with VATC management about the current situation of Vietnam’s education. He disclosed, “innovate in management and improve education quality” is the target for the academic year of 2010 mobilized by Ho Chi Minh City, Department of Education and Training. This is the target strategy in the period that Vietnam is integrating in WTO, the demand for employees to use English as a second language is difficult while in realities, the teaching and learning English is still on the way of over theory and less practice. In order to bring up a teaching and learning environment that connect with the reality, VATC is applying the most updated text books of famous publishers such as: Cambridge, Pearson Longman, Oxford, ect… to help students have modern teaching method as well as international standards. Besides, VATC also designed some extra curricular programs as well as active teaching methods to help students improve the soft-skills besides the foreign language skill. VATC expected that, students learning at VATC, shall improve both soft-skills and English skill.
In the past ten years, VATC has been trying to improve its teaching responsibility for Vietnam Education in general and for Ho Chi Minh City education and training department in the process of improving the quality of teaching and learning. The visit of Dr. Huynh Cong Minh has encouraged VATC team and helped the school recognize the right way to develop.
